Silkie Chicken History;
Silkie chickens are originally from Asia. Between 1520 and 1560, the Swiss author and naturalist Konrad Gessner described the silk poultry as a snow-white woolen poultry with blue-black skin in a book on birds. It was proven in the 18th century that such animals appeared in the Netherlands. In 1920, the first Siamese silks appeared with fair skin, not blue-black.
overall impression ;
What is needed is a compact chicken with a moderately curved ridge line and a rounded cube shape on all sides. The feathers should show off with soft silk feathers, hood and beard. Skin color is blackish blue.
The silkiness of the feathers is a typical Asian characteristic: very rarely found in Nagasaki ( japanese bantam ). Due to the structure of the feathers, silkie cannot fly.
Colors;
White, black, wild color, blue, silver wild color, yellow, white with black spots, splashed sparrow, pearl gray and red silk poultry are accepted. Yellow, pearl gray is brought.
